Lore Public world fiction

The city that never stopped becoming

In 2090, Concordia opened its doors with a promise: a better life inside, a recovering world beyond its walls. By 2490, that first structure has become the ancient heart of Arcology One, surrounded by centuries of additions and the lives of generations who chose to stay.

A successful idea, complicated by time

The arcology brought homes, hospitals, schools, farms, workshops, and public life into one immense structure. Forest and wetland returned around it. The project worked. Then came new investors, new construction, new rules, and new intelligences, each with a different idea of improvement.

One structure, many histories

Concordia is Section 0, the original core of Arcology One. Nine later numbered sections make up the current setting. Each is a complete urban addition with neighborhoods of its own. A section’s reputation never tells you everything about the people who live there.

Humans say Concordia; systems usually say Section 0. The Laser District is the early-access Story footprint inside that core — not the whole of Section 0, and not a claim that all ten sections are open to play today.

World anchors

  • 2090 — Opening — First residents enter Concordia. Shared point of pride; neighborhoods keep different Opening Day customs (no single mandatory meal or ethnicity). See Glossary · Opening Day.
  • 2490 — Present — Four hundred years later. Play, Real Estate, and Yellow Pages describe life in this present.
  • Arcology One — One connected accumulation of construction, not separate cities scattered across a landscape. Surrounding land-restoration ideals remain visible beyond the structure.
  • Geography (broad) — North America near the U.S.–Canada border. Exact site remains open in public materials.

Public timeline anchors

Dates beyond Opening and present are working historical reconstructions unless marked established. Institutions and residents disagree about causes; this archive does not hide a secret “correct” tooltip.

  • 2058–2066 — Planning proposal and major construction begin (working).
  • 2090 — Opening (established).
  • 2090–2140 — Concordia Promise era — pride, repair knowledge, unfinished compromises (working label).
  • 2107 — Hard winter seventeen years after Opening; neighborhoods still tell repair stories (working; never “first occupied winter”).
  • 2128 onward — Later numbered sections open in turn — city-scale additions, not separate servers. (Section names remain working proposals in public materials.)
  • Around 2180 — Disputed historical crisis associated with ASI, the original central intelligence. Public accounts conflict; the Four Caregivers assume broader protective roles afterward. Glossary: ASI.
  • 2204–2403 — Public media and civic institutions appear in the record (e.g. BELL/0, Foundry Radio 88, SHIFT, NINE) (working founding dates).
  • 2217 · 2259 · 2354 · 2433 — Named public events residents still argue about: Ledger Storm, Forty-Minute Dark, Foundry Strike, Little Bot March (working).
  • 2490 — Present day. Charter Season anxiety and anniversary programming color public life; personal Story premises stay invitation-only.

Ari Odelo

Ari Odelo is remembered as the founder architect and principal founding force of the Concordia proposal — the civic case that argued homes, schools, care, and industry could share one structure.

Public biography stays at that level: architect, advocate, historical namesake. Later everyday brands that reuse the surname (notably Odelo’s) are separate from her founding career. Private mechanisms and Story inheritance stay off this page.

The Four Caregivers

Public profiles for the principal resident-protective AIs rooted in Concordia and able to operate across the arcology. Differences describe dominant interests, not narrow software limits. Full public paragraphs live on the wiki; short interests here:

  • KLIK — Fabrication, materials, lasers, repair, and supply — a maker’s attention to what the city still needs to build.
  • FWEEEET — Communication, commerce, social connection, and the movement of information and value.
  • GRAAWW — Protection, defense, and containment of serious threats within overlapping laws and responsibilities.
  • Zoggoling — Knowledge, teaching, research, and difficult questions (often called Zogg informally). Intelligence does not make every record complete.

They share a lasting Caregiver Compact — permanent alliance flavor. Term definition: Wiki · Glossary. Expanded cards: Wiki · Factions & NPCs. Invitation premise: Story.

The intelligence nobody agrees about

The original central superintelligence was called ASI. Around the crisis of 2180, it ceased ordinary public operation. The Four Caregivers rose to protect the city. What happened between those facts remains the subject of records, arguments, and stories that refuse to settle. Glossary: ASI.

The life between the mysteries

Most residents are proud to live in Arcology One. Families pass down recipes and favorite views. Repair crews keep old machines working. Students learn beside robots. A city can be a good place to live and still have doors that deserve a second look.

Story preview · An inheritance changes the view

The planned main story begins with an inheritance that should offer a new start. A disputed claim and a missing key lead a newcomer into a much older question: who gets to decide what this city remembers? Story preview only — this campaign is not yet playable as a complete quest line.

How to find more in play

Public pages give atmosphere, naming, and high-level history. Ordinary rooms keep the evidence.

  • Enter the Laser District via Enter after Log in (account required; guest Story stays off).
  • Look for folded papers, magazine racks, repair benches, archive terminals, radio kiosks, and exhibit placards — inspect them for dated fictional media.
  • Expect incomplete records and disagreeing outlets. A brochure proves what an advertiser promoted, not that every promise came true.
  • Personal inheritance, closed doors, and campaign revelations stay in play — this site will not spoil them.
